Into the Jungle - Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery

The March block for the Into the Jungle SAL was a Red Eyed Tree Frog.  I completed this block and added another two columns to the top of the project.  I am really enjoying the colours and simplicity of this piece.

Into the Jungle - Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery

After setting all my New Year goals and swearing to myself that I was not going to sign up for any mystery SALs once again I broke my own rules.

I saw part one of the new Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery's 2018 SAL - Into the Jungle and could not resist - that sloth was just too cute!

I purchased the chart and the Picture This Plus recommended fabric (Shale - I chose 28 count evenweave) from The Homemakery in the UK.  I've always wanted to try Picture This Plus fabric and by buying it from a UK stockist I knew at least I wasn't going to be hit with customs charges.

I joined the SAL as part 2 was released - so the parts released up to now are block 1 - Sloth, block 2 - toucans, the frames for all the other blocks and the top and bottom border.

I am using the charted DMC colours but there was one Weeks Dye Works charted which I couldn't find in stock anywhere so I subbed out two Classic Colorworks flosses I had in stash - 95 - Bejeweled and 191 - Grasshopper.

The whole piece is 131 stitches across so I decided to make the top and bottom border more manageable I could stitch a column of each border, each month.

So up to now I have completed the two released blocks and 31 stitches across of both the top and bottom border.  I have also stitched some of the borders for each block just to make sure I had the stitching right.

If you've managed to read through all that waffle you deserve to see some pictures now right!

I worked on five projects this week as part of various stitch alongs.  One was the KLT Frog Mystery SAL.

The first project I worked on was August from the Cricket Collection.  I worked on this as part of the August Monthly Month SAL and also part of Stitch Maynia's Olympic Challenge to stitch on a piece with Blue in it.

Here is what it will look like finished

After

I also worked on Needleworker from Little House Needleworks.

Pumpkin Passport - Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery - Part 6 of 12

In June the Pumpkin Passport travelled to Russia.  Again I did not add the snowflakes in the sky as it wouldn't show up on my fabric.

And the whole project to date.

Pumpkin Passport - Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery - Part 5 of 12 - Finish 18 of 2016

As I spent the first 16 days of May on my Maynia projects and then worked on the next part of the model I am stitching the Frosted Pumpkin SAL got put on the back burner.

So this month was Greece and I finished the part today.

And here's the whole thing:

So what does a Mayniac do after 16 new starts in the first 16 days?  I'm starting another new one!  I couldn't resist The Stargazer from Mirabilia.  I have had this chart for so long and haven't started it but today is the day!

I have also had some happy mail today but I'm going to do a separate post for that.

Hope you are all getting some good stitchy time.

Pumpkin Passport - Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery - Part 4 of 12 - FINISH 13 of 2016

The fourth part of the Pumpkin Passport mystery SAL was released on 1st April.  This month we travelled to Switzerland.  My fabric choice didn't work very well with this months design as the snowy mountain just blended in.  I therefore back stitched it with a pale tan colour just to help it stand out a little.  I also didn't stitch the snow in the sky as I knew it wouldn't show up at all.

I love the little sheep on the top of the mountain and the swan on the lake it's amazing how with a very few stitches you can make a recognisable animal shape.

Here's the pictures:-

I'm looking forward to see where we travel next month.

Pumpkin Passport - Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery - Part 2 of 12 - 12.02.16 - FINISH 7 for 2016

So this month we travel to Paris with the Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery's mystery SAL.

It took me longer than I expected to get this part stitched because I had a few days where I didn't do any stitching.  Can't wait to see where the adventure takes us next.

Pumpkin Passport - Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery - Part 1 of 12 - 30.01.16 - FINISH 5 of 2016

I am taking part in the Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery's mystery SAL this year - Pumpkin Passport.

We got the first part of the design on 15.01.16 and I finished it today apart from the bottom border which I don't want to put in until I have stitched some more on the bottom part - I would hate to stitch the whole bottom border and find I was a row or two out!

As with my other SALs I am counting each part of this design as a finish so this if finish number five for 2016.

I am stitching this on 28 count opal Jazlyn in Nimbus from Chromatic Alchemy.  I am using the recommended DMC threads apart from the words in the middle which I stitched in Pushkina from Fiberlicious.

Part 2 comes out on 1st February so I will be working on this one again in the near future.

Week beginning 21st July 2024

I'm happy to say that following on from a poor stitching week last week I've had a great week this week.  Achieved all my goals and ...
