Perpetual Calendar by Samsarah Designs - 13.01.19

For the past 10 days I have been stitching on Perpetual Calendar from Samsarah Designs.  I decided that I would stitch on each project for 3 days before spinning the wheel.  For this project the "Stick/Spin" wheel landed on stick twice so I continued to work on it for 9 days - I added the 10th day as it was more convenient to stitch on this project than switch today.

So I'm bringing in a new rule for my wheel spinning decisions.  Once I have stitched on a project for 9 days then I will definitely switch to a different one.

I am not stitching these in the called for colours.  I am substituting them with my own choices from stash.  The threads used are mainly from Jodyri Designs but I have used some others as well.

The first picture was my starting point and then the following pictures were taken at 7pm each day.

Today I finished the number "4" so I count that as 3 mini finishes as the ones pictured below were all partially started when I picked this project up.

I have really enjoyed stitching on this project and intend to try and put at least one length of thread into it each day.  Once I get to the filling in of the background it is very meditative and I don't need to look at the chart.

Tonight I spun the wheel to see what type of project I will work on next - the wheel spun "WIP".

I spun the WIP wheel and it spun "I Love You to the Moon and Back".  This is something I charted myself and am stitching for my son.  I last stitched on this on 30th October 2017.

Overview - January 2017

Well firstly I cannot believe that it is already February - wasn't it only yesterday I posted about my stitching in 2016!

I've worked on a few projects in January, three of them new starts and one a project that I hadn't touched for a while.

On 31st December 2016 I started At the Met by Mirabilia.  I have coveted this project for so long and last year I came into a little extra money and kitted it up.  I stitched on this project every day for the first 22 days of January.  I am stitching her on 32 count Permin Linen in Milk Chocolate 2 over 2 with all the charted threads.  This is the first big project I have worked on with linen and I'm surprised to say I'm not hating it.  I can't say I'll be converting totally to linen but I won't avoid it like I have in the past.  So here's what it will look like.

This is what it looked like before I moved the frame.
And this is what it looks like now.

I then heard about the Quotes to Live by from Stitchrovia which is a charity SAL for Mind.  I am stitching this 1 over 1 on 20 count aida in Smokey Rose which was the June 2016 Limited Edition from KLT Charting.  I am leaning heavily on Kim to add this to her regular line because it is an absolutely stunning colour and would work well with so many designs.  Here's the picture of part 1.

And here's where I got to so far.

My next new start was Hardcore Gamer from Charting Creations.  I am stitching this on 25 count easy guide evenweave 2 over 1 tent stitch.  The colour I am using at the moment is DMC Coloris 4507.  Here's a picture of what it will look like.
And here's where I got to.

The final project I worked on was the Perpetual Calendar from Samsarah Designs.  I looked back and the last time I worked on this was in 2013!!  I am really enjoying working on it again.  A couple of days a week I have to wait an hour for a lift home from work so I am taking this along and getting some extra time in on it.  This is stitched on 14 count perforated paper.

Yesterday I was feeling the need to work on a different project but I couldn't decide which one so I used random number generator to pick a project and it landed on Mini Bookworm Fairy by Hannah Lynn.  I am going to do at least 500 stitches on this project and then decide whether to carry on or switch.

I hope 2017 is treating you all well.

Perpetual Calendar Part 7 completed as of 05.07.13

So I've completed the next part in the perpetual calendar the number 2

I changed the background colours a lot from what was charted this time.  I looked for two of my hand dyed threads that I loved and that contrasted with one another.  The main background colour is Salamander and the blue/green squares and circles is Blue Agave both of which are from Jodyri Designs.

I've also made some more progress on my model stitch Damask.  I've used a whole skein of thread now.  I'm trying to make texture in the design with the direction of my stitches.

Perpetual Calendar Part 6 - completed 08.05.13

Here's the latest finish on Perpetual Calendar it's for February.

I changed the colours a bit from those recommended. I changed one of the greens to the yellow.  I do love how this has turned out.  The yellow stripes are in summer sunset, the green stripes in rainforest and the purple is perfect purples all from Jodyri designs.  Michelle now has her own website so if you want to buy any or her gorgeous threads or charts please visit her at www.jodyridesigns.co.uk

I've changed how I'm rotating again - just working through each of my projects one at a time.  I am also working on a SAL from a group on Facebook - Thread Pickerz Silkz.  Eileen has designed 16 hearts for people to stitch with two being released each week and I am going to try and keep up with the hearts as they are released.  Eileen also sells gorgeous hand dyed silks some of which I am going to use in the SAL.  The other project I am now going to work on is the Lizzie Kate Design - Merry Christmas by the Letter.

Perpetual Calendar - Part 6 Completed as of 17.04.13

Really pleased with how quickly I've completed this part - only took me three days although I have been off work so pretty much spent most of the days stitching.

So this is part 6 of the Perpetual Calendar by Samsarah Designs.  I think this is my favourite one to date.  The letter F and the word Friday really stand out on this one.

My next rotation as chosen by the random number generator is number 4 so back to Sleeping Beauty's Castle.

Perpetual Calendar Part 1 - Tuesday

I've completed the first part of the perpetual calendar - only another 47 to go!

This is the Samsarah image of what there stitched version looks like.

I like this pattern because they give you lots of alternatives for the over dyed threads to use.  The idea is that you can use up stash rather than having to go out and buy all new.  I didn't have any of the specialty threads listed but I did have quite a lot of DMC and Anchor variegated threads.  The chart also specifies which DMC colours can be substituted so I used those to try and choose which of my variegated threads to use.  I'm not 100% happy with this as I think the word "Tuesday" doesn't really stand out very well but I tried going round it in black back stitch but it looked ridiculous.

If anyone's got any suggestions on what I can do to try and make the letters stand out better I'd love to hear them.

So here's my version - I don't think my white is as white is the original and my background is probably too dark.

I'm happy to say that following on from a poor stitching week last week I've had a great week this week.  Achieved all my goals and ...
