January - Sand, Sea & Cross Stitch - 11.04.16

For Mother's Day this year my little boy bought me this book - Sand Sea & Cross Stitch.

It has so many charts in it that I would love to stitch.  I love the Sea and the Seaside so this book was perfect for me.

The first design I decided to stitch is the months of the year.  I am stitching them on one piece of fabric and will hopefully make it in to a wall hanging when it is completed.  Here is the first month I completed January.

The design is charted for DMC but I decided to switch out some of the colours for other threads I have in my stash.  The solid border is stitched in Pushkina from Fiberlicious, the inner dotted border is stitched in Lemon & Lime from Dinky Dyes, the month is stitched in Spring Crocus from Crafty Kitten, the red is Terracotta from Dinky Dyes and the yellow Nullabor from Dinky Dyes.  Everything else I have stitched in the recommended DMC.

I'm really enjoying stitching this and the fact that it was a Mother's Day present makes it that little bit more special.

Keep stitching and smiling

What a great present! I love the shading on the lighthouse, and the colour changes you made.
I wish my children bought me cross stitch stuff!

What a thoughtful Mother's Day present. I saw somebody stitch these last year and enjoyed them so will be able to enjoy them all over again! I love your colour changes too. What a difference a few strands of variegated threads make. :)

That's a lovely design with some great colour choices.

It's nice to see a slightly different monthly series too.

How sweet that he knows his mamma so well. Have fun with that it sounds like it will look really cool and beachy when finished!
